A striking combination

Occasionally 19th century samplers were stitched on a dark green linsey-woolsey fabric similar to the color shown here. In the photo are two samplers from The Scarlet Letter, Four Seasons and Mary Jones. Four Seasons is inspired by 19th century samplers and Mary Jones is an early 19th century reproduction. Fox & Rabbit Lyrebird Dell Is featured as the linen for both samplers.
